Who are Quayside

A Family Business Born on the Water

Quayside is a family business with a story that begins far from home. Back in the early 1980s, founder Martyn was travelling through northern Portugal, sourcing handmade leather footwear, when inspiration struck. Between the cobbled workshops of Portugal and the familiar sight of his local sailing reservoir back in the UK, an idea took shape — handcrafted moccasin deck shoes built for life on the water.

From Idea to Icon

What started as a passion project grew into something far greater. In the years that followed, Martyn's son Peter had a chance meeting with one of Britain's largest nautically inspired clothing brands. Recognizing the quality and character of Quayside's handmade moccasin deck shoes, they saw the potential to make them part of their own offering — and the rest, as they say, is history.

Thousands of Pairs Later

Today, after thousands of handmade boat shoes crafted with the same care and attention as that very first pair, Quayside shoes are a familiar sight — in boatyards, on board, and even at the local country show. From the water's edge to the great British countryside, Quayside has become a trusted name for those who appreciate genuine craftsmanship and timeless style.

We're proud of where we've come from, and even more excited about where we're going. Welcome to Quayside.

Quayside Boat Shoes are crafted by hand, continuing a proud tradition of genuine shoemaking heritage. Each pair is made using real, premium leather and shaped with care by skilled craftsmen and craftswomen whose expertise has been honed over generations. Their meticulous attention to detail ensures not only exceptional comfort, but a finish that reflects true artisanal quality.

Every element of a Quayside Boat Shoe speaks to its handmade origin. The real rubber soles are individually stitched and secured for lasting durability, offering confident grip on both land and sea - while remaining kind to your deck with their non-marking design.

Because Quayside Shoes are built to embrace the elements, they are designed to get wet, to weather, and to soften uniquely to their wearer over time. Whether sailing at sea or exploring lakes and rivers, each pair brings together heritage craftsmanship, durability and natural materials to create footwear that feels as authentic as the hands that made it.
